[Needless to say, Dia has been stressed. The 12 being gone from the coven, her sister being one of them. Signing herself up for a rescue mission. It's...been rough. It's been really rough. Not sleeping well also means that Dia has been experiencing all of her emotions two-fold.
When she hears the knock, and Laphicet's gentle voice at the door. She's going to sit up and wipe her tears.
She has to take a deep breath. She doesn't want to worry him.]
[ Laphicet steps in and closes the door behind himself—it's probably not necessary, but he does it anyway. ]
Do you need anything, miss Dia?
[ Maybe he'll just pretend that he didn't hear her cry for a while. He's not so sure if Dia has eaten something today, either. Here's hoping she did. ]
[Smart kid, because she would have preferred the door closed right now anyways. She looks a little defeated, a little sad— and those are things that she just can't seem to hide right now.]
Just some company would be nice.
[She shifts to make room, electing to tell Laphicet was is really going on here.]
My younger sister is one of the twelve that were taken.
[ Soon enough he sits beside Dia, not really confident if his company will make things better, but he'd like to try to cheer her up somehow anyway. But is it even possible to do so in such circumstances?
He's trying to imagine what would Eizen do if something like this happened to his sister. Well, Laphicet can tell that the monitors and the whole city would be no more. Velvet would do the same, more or less. But Eizen is a malak, and Velvet is a daemon. Yet, he has no doubt that Dia is ready to do anything to rescue her younger sister, even if she doesn't have powers of a malak or a daemon. ]
I'm so sorry, miss Dia.
[ Laphicet finds these words a bit lackluster, even if this is how he truly feels like. Not really sure what gesture would suit the situation, he simply stretches his hand up and gently pats Dia on the head. ]
[ They've texted each other once, but that's it. Laphicet might not even know it was Dia's sister, actually. ]
I can't heal her but I know someone who's training to be a doctor. And I can ask Velvet to cook something good for her, too. Maybe Magilou could show her a few of her tricks to cheer her up!
[ A little while later he realizes that he didn't say what could he do. ]
Um...I could read her books if she's too tired to read by herself!
You can. You just have to be really calm around her, she can be a little shy.
[Not that she believes Laphicet would egg on Ruby's anxious nature. She just knows that Ruby will need peace and quiet for the first few days out of prison.]
[ A dictionary he's acquired recently definitely contains lots of information, but it might not be what she's looking for. That being said, Laphicet should have a few books on Shehui traditions...the question is whether Dia wants to hear about them. ]
I could tell you everything about the stories I've read before! [ Ah, he's getting overly excited again. ] I mean...anytime you feel like it.

Come in, Laphicet-san. It's okay.

Is there anything we can do?

It's...it's okay, Laphicet-san.
[She frowns a little, knowing that she isn't really okay.]
I don't think there is anything we can do right now. Even if I really want to.

I'm sure if it's you, miss Dia, you'll do your best when the time comes. I can see you're doing your best even now, too.
[ And there goes another pat on the head. Hopefully this one won't be as surprising. It's just like he wanted to tell her that it's okay to cry. ]

I'm trying to do my best. I have to be strong for Ruby when she is freed. I don't know whether I am going to be successful even now.
[She feels like, in a sense, she is failing.]

I wish I could help somehow.
[ If he could at least use his healing abilities. ]
Do you think I could help you somehow when your sister will be back?
no subject
[If only Dia's healing abilities weren't so violent!]

I think she might like reading books.

[ When it occurs to him that even now he's a bit too loud, Laphicet smiles sheepishly and adds, in a whisper: ]
I will. I promise.
[ It's good news to him. Dia's sister liking books, that is. ]
What kind of stories does she like?

And what stories do you like, miss Dia?

[Dia was raised on those kinds of stories, and she loves to learn. So it works out!]
